The CSC and the Taylor & Francis Group are delighted to announce that the 2017 Best Journal Article Prize is now open for entries.
The Taylor & Francis Commonwealth Scholar Best Journal Article Prize is awarded for the most outstanding article published in a recognised peer-review journal of high standing by a current or recent doctoral Commonwealth Scholar. More information about the prize
The prize comprises £1,500 and a year’s personal subscription to a Taylor & Francis journal of the winner’s choice.
Eligibility
To enter the 2017 Best Journal Article Prize, you must:
- Be currently studying for a PhD, OR
- Have completed your PhD within five years prior to the competition opening (i.e. submitted your thesis from January 2012 onwards)
The article you are entering for the prize must be:
- An original research paper published, or accepted for publication, in a widely recognised peer-reviewed journal of international or regional acclaim
- Sole- or first-authored by you
- If you have completed your Commonwealth Scholarship, accepted for publication after your thesis submission date
- Entered for the prize for the first time this year. If you have entered the Best Journal Article Prize in previous years, you may enter again this year – but you must submit a different article
Entries from all disciplines are welcome.
How to enter
The CSC will email all eligible current and former Commonwealth Scholars with full details of how to enter the 2017 Best Journal Article Prize.
The deadline for entries is 16.00 (GMT) on 17 March 2017.
To enter, you must email a completed application form (saved with your name in the filename) and a pre-publication final copy of your article in PDF format (including proof of acceptance if not yet published) to alumni@cscuk.org.uk
Entries submitted without this documentation will not be considered. If you are eligible to enter the 2017 Best Journal Article Prize but have not received an email with instructions and the application form, please email alumni@cscuk.org.uk
Terms and conditions
Failure to comply with the terms as set out and to provide all information as requested may prevent your entry from being judged in the competition.
The prize will be judged by a panel of experts and advisers appointed by the CSC.
The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Should no entries be deemed suitable, the prize will not be awarded.
The competition winner, and any entrants given commendations, should be willing to provide a photograph of themselves and to participate in relevant promotional coverage which may be undertaken by the CSC and the Taylor & Francis Group.
The CSC will use prize entries as part of its Evaluation and Monitoring Programme, and all entrants should be willing to allow the CSC to include material in reports and on its website.
