NGOs and charitable bodies

NGOs and charitable bodies are invited to nominate candidates for both Commonwealth PhD Scholarships and Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships.

Please note that in addition to the limitations below, each of these nominators have their own eligibility and selection criteria. It is your responsibility to research your eligibility to apply via this agency. Due to the amount of queries received by these agencies, applicants who are not eligible will not receive a reply and their applications will not be considered.

Canon Collins Educational and Legal Assistance Trust
For Master’s candidates from: Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia only.

For PhD candidates from: Lesotho, Malawi, and Zambia only.

Commonwealth Disabled People’s Forum
For disabled candidates only. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate how their studies will lead to improvement in the position of disabled people in their country.

For Master’s candidates from: Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Botswana, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Mauritius, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu only.

For female Master’s candidates from: Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia only.

For female PhD candidates from: Cameroon, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia only.

HALI Access Network
For candidates affiliated with a HALI Access Network member organisation only. A full list of members is available on the HALI website. Please check with the member organisation you are affiliated with for further details on selection criteria.

Accepting Master’s applications from candidates affiliated with a HALI Access Network member organisation only from: Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia only.

Wellcome Trust
For Master’s or PhD candidates from Kenya and Malawi only, studying biomedicine as the subject area, including: basic science, bioethics, social science and health economics.

Windle Trust International
For Master’s or PhD candidates from Kenya and Uganda only, who meet the Windle Trust International eligibility criteria.
