The Hon Dr Lockwood Smith, Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament, has been honoured with a Massey University Distinguished Alumni Award.
Lockwood has been Speaker since 2008 and has served nine terms as an MP, during which he has held numerous ministerial portfolios. He held his Commonwealth Scholarship at the University of Adelaide, Australia, where he studied for a PhD in Animal Science.
