Develop skills in researching, monitoring and assessing the impact of social projects in this online workshop.
This two-part session will focus on the theory of impact and evaluation, and demonstrate practical tools and methods for carrying out impact and evaluation as part of a project or programme. This workshop is for anyone who might find themselves in a research, data or evaluation role, or for those writing project proposals outside of an academic setting. Scholars will gain an understanding of the important foundation principles for measuring impact and why it will vary in academic approaches. Scholars will gain an understanding of the difference between evaluation, research and monitoring, and knowledge of the steps to take for impact evaluation, including devising performance indicators.
Scholars will leave the session with practical experience in using a monitoring and evaluation framework, qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, and how to use impact evaluation tools.
This workshop is part of the CSC’s Development Training Programme for the 2019-20 academic year.
CSC workshops focus on professional and practical skills and are designed to be interactive, with small groups of Scholars and Fellows taking part in each event.

This workshop will be run by AccessEd, a non-profit organisation aimed at promoting fair access to university for all young people. Alongside running in-school programmes for under-represented pupils, they also work with researchers across the world, training them to focus on outreach and public engagement skills, career readiness, and leadership development.
All their workshops are designed and delivered by qualified teachers and academics with extensive experience of training researchers across the UK and internationally.
