Building an entrepreneurial ecosystem

Over the past three decades, higher education has expanded rapidly, producing more skilled graduates than ever before. Yet in many Commonwealth countries, population growth has outpaced job creation, leaving many young people without access to well-paid employment. With over 60% of the population under 30 in some member states, youth unemployment remains a growing challenge.

Entrepreneurship and innovation are vital to drive economic growth, social development, climate action, effective healthcare, and gender equality. By equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills and fostering a culture of creativity, they can empower the next generation to become changemakers and develop solutions to pressing development challenges.

Commonwealth Alumni were invited to promote entrepreneurship, address barriers facing aspiring entrepreneurs, champion inclusion and sustainability, and tackle development challenges through innovation.
