Dr Naveed Hussain is a 2019 Commonwealth Split-site Scholar from Pakistan.

Shaping the research outlook

The programme has enabled me to gain valuable experience in mentoring a PhD Scholar and build my research network across borders.  

Drawing on my biochemistry expertise, I supported my Mentee in shaping his short‑ and long‑term doctoral research goals. I also encouraged him to broaden his research network by attending conferences, where he connected with researchers working on similar projects.  

 

Producing work together

As a Mentor, I strengthened my research collaboration skills, which our shared scientific background made especially productive.  Together, we published a review paper on my Mentee’s research, which subsequently led to him securing a research grant.  

This mentoring experience has been mutually beneficial and I look forward to continuing scientific collaborations with my Mentee in the future. 

Dr Naveed Hussain is a 2019 Commonwealth Split-site Scholar from Pakistan. He completed his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Oxford and University of the Punjab, Lahore.
