Dr Adetoun Mustapha (Commonwealth Scholar, PhD Environmental Epidemiology, Imperial College, London, 2003-2007) was awarded the 2010 Rebecca James Baker Memorial Prize by the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology in Korea, August 2010. This is a competitive award given to new investigators who have shown particular commitment to environmental epidemiology as a tool for improving public health and quality of life, and to working with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Adetoun believes that the award also recognises the value of his CSC-funded PhD that looked at the health effects of air pollution on children living in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

I am appreciative of the opportunity provided me by the Commonwealth Scholarship to have a positive impact on the world.
