Celebrating 65 years of Commonwealth Scholarships

Since 1960, the CSC has supported more than 31,000 Scholars from across the Commonwealth to study at the UK’s world-class universities. As we celebrate our 65th anniversary, we look back on the achievements of Commonwealth Scholars over the past 65 years.

Our story

The idea behind Commonwealth Scholarships was a simple one – to promote international relations through overseas study. Today, it has become a leading scholarship scheme that supports outstanding candidates, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, and helps advance sustainable development around the world.

Celebrating 65 years

Anniversary in pictures

Over the past 65 years, the CSC has adapted to the demands of a rapidly changing world. Rising to challenges such as climate change, girls’ education, and LGBT+ rights, we have helped empower a new generation of international students tackle these pressing global issues. While much has changed in that time, our core mission of supporting talented individuals to reach their potential and make a positive difference in the world remains the same.
