Commonwealth alumni in Cape Town came together in October 2017 to welcome home South African Commonwealth Scholars who recently completed their studies in the UK.
At the event, James Phillips (Senior Alumni Engagement Officer at the CSC) reminded alumni to keep in touch with the CSC, to support the monitoring and evaluation of the Commonwealth Scholarship programme, as well as celebrating their achievements and successes. Edward Roman (British Consul General, Cape Town) also attended the reception and addressed guests.
868 South Africans have received a Commonwealth Scholarship since the scheme began in 1960, and 79 are currently on award. The CSC hopes to launch an alumni association in South Africa soon, to develop more alumni events and activities across the country.
If you are a Commonwealth alumnus from or working in South Africa and did not receive an invitation to the event, please get in touch with the CSC to check that we have your up-to-date email address, so that we can ensure you receive future invitations.
