On Tuesday 10 December 2024, Commonwealth Alumnus Lt Cdr Bidisha Pandey (Retd) delivered a webinar on ‘From Indian Navy to international trade: Commonwealth Scholarships enabling career transitions’.
This webinar addressed the CSC development theme of, Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

About the speaker
Currently, Lt Cdr Bidisha Pandey is the Director, Trade and Investment at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (ATIC) in New Delhi, India. She presently facilitates bilateral trade between India and Australia in the Aersopace, Advanced Manufacturing and Space sectors. She is also the Diversity and Inclusion co-lead for Austrade South Asia. In her previous role, Bidisha served as the Logistics Officer in the Indian Navy for a decade and retired in July 2021.
Bidisha Pandey is a 2021 Commonwealth Shared Scholar from India. She completed an MSc in Prosperity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at University College London.
Developing transferable skills for career advancement
In this webinar, Bidisha discussed how the Commonwealth Scholarship was pivotal in facilitating a career change from serving in the Indian Navy to international trade.
Bidisha shared her key learnings from her successful career in defence and how this equipped her with skills to pursue a career in global trade and development. Through the webinar, she provided useful tips and advice for Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni on keeping an open mind towards seeking career opportunities and developing transferable skills for career advancement.
This webinar presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session with Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni. A recording of this webinar is available to view on the CSC’s YouTube channel where you can also watch previous events in the series.
