On Wednesday 31 July, the CSC Alumni Team hosted a webinar on “Gender and development in Fiji and the Pacific: a practitioner’s perspective”, delivered by Commonwealth Alumnus Kaushal Sharma.
This webinar addressed the CSC development theme of Access, inclusion and opportunity.

About the speaker
Kaushal Sharma is currently the Founder of the Gender Agenda, a consultancy business focused on providing technical support on Gender and Development in Fiji and the Pacific.
Kaushal Sharma is a 2016 Commonwealth Scholar from Fiji. She completed a MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Advancing gender equality in Fiji
In this webinar, Kaushal discussed her work in advancing feminist movement building, intergenerational women’s leadership, gender equity, and social inclusion in Fiji and the Pacific.
As an Indo-Fijian woman from a low-income background, Kaushal shared her professional and personal journey in pursuing her career as a gender and development practitioner. She discussed her work in overcoming gender challenges by working with diverse stakeholders across Fiji.
This webinar presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session with Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni. A recording of this webinar is available to view on the CSC’s YouTube channel where you can also watch previous events in the series.
Post-webinar, attendees were invited to network with fellow attendees to further discuss the webinar topic, exchange ideas and knowledge, seek out collaborators for their own work, and promote their research.
