An overview of Pakistan’s journey to clean energy and electricity market transformations.
In this webinar, Commonwealth Alumnus Muhammad Faisal Sharif will discuss how Pakistan’s electricity sector is entering into two transitions: energy transition towards clean and green energy, and electricity market transformation from a single buyer market to a multiple buyers’ wholesale market.
Faisal will showcase his journey as a Commonwealth Scholar and how his enhanced academic qualifications influenced his professional development as an energy sector professional. He will discuss how his master’s course helped him to effectively contribute to the formulation of policies and plans, and support the development of multi-billion dollars energy projects, ongoing electricity market development, and clean energy transition by reducing the country’s carbon footprint.
Faisal will also discuss Pakistan’s strong commitment towards the environment and climate change, drawing on examples of environmentally friendly policies aligned with UN SDG 7 and the Paris Agreement.
The webinar will last for approximately one hour, including a Q&A session.
The CSC’s Climate Action webinar series will provide a platform for Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni working and conducting research in areas related to climate change to present on their work and impact in this field to the CSC community.
