Finding your way forward: matching your skills to employment opportunities, in conversation with Commonwealth Alumnus Suzette Lewis
In this webinar, Commonwealth Alumnus Suzette Lewis, an Examiner at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), will address key factors relating to finding new and relevant employment and re-acclimatising to previous roles and workplaces.
The discussion will aim to address the following content:
- The importance of volunteer opportunities
- Skills development and continued learning
- Seeking relevant and new networks, maintaining existing networks
- Understanding the job market
- Coping with unemployment
- Preparing in advance for potential challenges
The webinar will last approximately 50 minutes and will be followed by a 20-minute networking session for attendees to share their thoughts and reflections on the topic.
The Preparing for Success webinar series aims to spotlight successful and senior alumni leaders and through an informal conversation, share important lessons and takeaways that scholars and new alumni can learn from. This includes learning about the positives and challenges that have influenced their achievements and successes.
Learning from alumni is a key way for Commonwealth Scholars coming towards the end of their studies to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead. The new event series aims to show the extent to which these challenges and concerns are normal and affect even the most successful leaders.
The Preparing for Success series offers an opportunity for scholars to learn from four Commonwealth Alumni on the positives and challenges that have influenced their achievements and successes. Through an informal conversation, speakers will share important lessons and takeaways.

Suzette Lewis is an Examiner at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), which is the central bank for eight islands in the eastern Caribbean. She currently also serves on the Alumni Advisory Panel for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
Suzette Lewis is a 2015 Commonwealth Scholar from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She completed a MSC Finance at City, University of London.
