Professor Samuel Chuks Ugbolue held a Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Manchester in 1988 – 1989. He is based in the Department of Materials and Textiles, at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, He has worked in the private sector as a textile research chemist, and has worked at Ahmadu Bello University and at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in Nigeria (where he also served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration).
He is currently involved with several major projects funded by National Textile Center USA:

- Blue Light Curable Ink Chemistry for Textile Digital Printing
- Cost Effective Nanofiber Formation: Melt Electrospinning
