The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is seeking to appoint four new Commissioners to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC).

Appointed by the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioners are drawn from a range of professional backgrounds. Their main roles are to select Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows, provide strategic and policy direction, monitor effectiveness, and ensure appropriate structures for governance and accountability.

Applications are welcomed from candidates from any background with a strong knowledge of higher education (in the United Kingdom and ideally other Commonwealth countries) and a deep understanding of development issues and the challenges faced by developing countries.

Applications from candidates who have a background or experience in STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine) and related areas are particularly encouraged as it is anticipated that at least two of the four new Commissioners that the CSC will appoint will demonstrate a background or experience in this field. Applications are also particularly welcomed from candidates with the skills and expertise to contribute to the selection of candidates for CSC Scholarships or Fellowships.

The deadline for applications is 9 January 2023. For more information on the role and how to apply, visit the application page.
