Indu Grover was awarded both a Commonwealth Scholarship, to study at the University of London between 1981 and 1984, and a Commonwealth Fellowship at Reading University from 1994 to 1995.
In the Agricultural Research and Rural Development Department at Reading, she planned an edited volume on technologies for rural homes and communities with her mentor, Patricia Goldey. The book was developed during visits to the UK between 2003 and 2005 and should be published early next year.
With financial support from the British Council and DFID, Indu pursued a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Hull between 2002 and 2006 in Gender and Development. Since then, she has published 14 books and over 100 research papers on the subject, and developed a foundation course in Gender and Development following a demand from the Women Study Centres in India.
In 1998, Indu was invited to be an expert for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, presenting her work at an international conference on ‘Empowering and Investing in Women’. She also worked as a Review Editor at the World Bank between 2007 and 2009.
