Dr Jock Murray, Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has been appointed President of the Robert Pope Foundation.

Jock was a Commonwealth Scholar (1967-1968) and Commonwealth Fellow (1985), and formerly Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Canada.

The Robert Pope Foundation was founded in 1992 to support programs that relate the arts and medicine. The foundation supports many projects, including the Medical Humanities Program at Dalhousie Medical School, and scholarships at NSCAD. Robert Pope was an artist and a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Arts and Design, who completed a large series of paintings on the experience of cancer before he died of his disease.
