Development in Action Webinar Series

Inclusive mobility as a service in Lagos, Nigeria

Date: 24/06/2022

Duration: 15:00-16:00 (BST)
Location: Online

Making transport inclusive for all

In this webinar, Commonwealth Alumnus Ejiro Matilda Ikoko will highlight the importance of inclusive mobility for vulnerable groups in Nigeria and society. Ejiro will discuss how mobility is an essential part of our daily lives and why no one should be restricted or excluded in accessing transportation. She will highlight findings from her master’s study and current PhD research, which investigate mobility needs and challenges of vulnerable groups including women and visually impaired people.

The Sub-Sahara African Transport Policy (SSATP) estimated that by 2050, Africa will have an extra 300 million people living in its cities. An increased population will put more pressure on existing transport systems and may result in the further exclusion of vulnerable groups in accessing transportation.

This webinar will address the CSC development theme, Science and technology for development.

The webinar will last for approximately one hour, including a Q&A session.
