Dr W M P B Weerasinghe (Commonwealth Scholar, PhD Ruminant Nutrition, Harper Adams University College, 2005-2008) has utilised his PhD research in a recent publication.
His PhD focused on milk fatty acid production in lactating ewes. Two of the fatty acids have several beneficial effects on humans, including preventing cancers and lowering blood cholesterol levels. Major research findings have now been published in The Journal of Nutrition.
Dr Weerasinghe, who is Veterinary Research Officer at the Veterinary Research Institute, is also currently serving as a visiting lecturer to the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
