Annabel Boud will take up the role of inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) from 1 November 2024.
The CSC is an arm’s length body of the UK Government, an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The CSC operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan and is a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth.
Having worked for the CSC for more than 10 years in various roles, most recently as the Head of the CSC Secretariat, Annabel has more than 20 years’ experience working in higher education and sustainable development in Australia, Fiji, Sri Lanka and the UK. Additionally, she is a doctoral researcher at the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the University of Cambridge.
Annabel’s research interest is in education for development with a focus on higher-education mobility and international scholarship programmes. Her doctoral research explores access to aid-funded scholarships by refugees and internally displaced people in East Africa.
Professor Robin Mason, Chair of the CSC, said: “I am pleased to announce Annabel Boud’s appointment as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. This new role is essential in ensuring that the CSC continues to provide a programme of scholarships and fellowships that supports UK government priorities and contributes to sustainable development across the Commonwealth.
“I have been working alongside Annabel since my appointment as Chair of the CSC and have appreciated her leadership and counsel to date. She is exceptionally qualified to take on the challenge, and I very much look forward to working with Annabel in her new role.”
