On Tuesday 8 August, the Association of Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows India (ACSF) and a select group of Commonwealth Alumni were invited to attend a networking reception hosted by the British High Commission in India. The reception celebrated higher education in India and the work of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in promoting the role of higher education in achieving sustainable development through its network of 130 university in India.
The event was attended by representatives from the British High Commission and other Commonwealth High Commissions, Dr Joanna Newman, Secretary General, ACU, ACU members, and representatives from the Association of Indian universities (AIU).
HE Alex Ellis CMG, British High Commissioner to India opened the reception with a welcome address and introduced Dr Newman. Dr Newman shared the important role of universities and university networks in identifying and supporting talented individuals to achieve development and impact and bridge important gaps between research and policy.
Following the speeches, the networking began and Commonwealth Alumni had the opportunity to meet with universities leaders and share the important impact of access to higher education in their work and lives.
