Elizabeth Mills, a 2009 Commonwealth Scholar, has been named as one of the Mail & Guardian‘s top 200 Young South Africans.
Elizabeth is about to start the third-year of her PhD in Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. She was listed for her work on the effects of HIV and antiretroviral treatment on women’s lives and their relationship with the post-apartheid government in South Africa.
Elizabeth, who was Deputy Director of the AIDS and Society Research Unit at the University of Cape Town prior to her Commonwealth Scholarship, told the Mail & Guardian that she ‘hopes to bridge the gap between academia and activism through her PhD’. Read Elizabeth’s full profile
