Efforts to legitimise mandatory rehabilitation in prisons

In this webinar, Dr Leslie highlighted the importance of implementing rehabilitation programmes in prisons, drawing on her doctoral research on criminal recidivism in Jamaica. She discussed how rehabilitation plays a key role in promoting effective reintegration, reducing recidivism, and achieving SDG 16 through the promotion of peaceful, just, and strong institutions.

Dr Leslie highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision-making and talked about how her role as a member of the Correctional Services Technical Committee is helping to inform the policy process and bridge the gap between academia, the state, and civil society.

This webinar presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session with Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni. You can catch the recording of the webinar below or on the CSC’s YouTube channel, where you can also watch previous events in the series.
