Dr Zipporah Ali, 2007 Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholar, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Oxford Brookes University, UK, in recognition of her services to palliative care in Kenya.

Zipporah is Executive Director of Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KEHPCA) and is currently studying for an MSc in Palliative Care from the University of Dundee by distance. She will officially receive her honorary doctorate in June 2013.

Zipporah recently addressed the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV and AIDS at their meeting on World AIDS Day in the UK Houses of Parliament. The audience included the Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for International Development. KEHPCA was among ten community-based organisations that received the prestigious Red Ribbon Award for innovative response to AIDS in 2012.
