Corporate Sustainability: An organisational approach to build a sustainable world
In this webinar, Commonwealth Alumnus Souvik Ghosh will discuss how corporate sustainability programmes aim to make an organisation’s purpose meaningful, systemic, and value and impact driven.
Organisations at the forefront of corporate sustainability have used it as a strategic tool to drive growth opportunities and enhance their performance and impact. These organisations have always focused on all their stakeholders as part of an inclusive approach, and not only their shareholders.
Corporate sustainability initiatives and practices have evolved over time and are now used globally to encourage and mandate sustainable practice across organisations of different scales and size.
Souvik will discuss how organisations integrate sustainability practices within their business strategy and governance, by improving supply chain accountability and increasing their responsibility to and for their stakeholders. While national and international legislations have highlighted the importance of such integration with public disclosures and assurance requirements, there are, however, instances of greenwashing and social washing that we come across on a regular basis.
This webinar will address the CSC development themes, Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The webinar will last for approximately one hour, including a Q&A session.
After the webinar, attendees are invited to stay online and participate in a 30-minute group discussion on the webinar topic to exchange ideas and knowledge, seek out collaborators for their own work, and promote their research in this area.
The CSC’s Development in Action webinar series provides an opportunity for Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni to present on their work and contribution to development across a range of contemporary global challenges and provide insight into ongoing research and action.
Open to all Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni, the monthly webinars will address one of the CSC’s six development themes and provide an opportunity for attendees to engage in real-time Q&A discussion on the topic presented.
You can watch previous webinars on the CSC’s YouTube channel.
