Science and technology for development
In this webinar, Commonwealth Alumnus Femi Adekoya will discuss the importance of using drone technology in the agriculture sector in Nigeria. The use of drone technologies has seen an increase across all sectors. In agriculture, drones can be used to identify the symptoms and root cause of a number of issues experienced by farmers, such as crop productivity and crop health. Using drones for farming has many benefits, however drone technology is expensive and farmers lack awareness of the technology and benefits. There is a need to educate and advocate to build the capacity of farmers to adapt to new technologies.
This presentation will highlight the speaker’s personal experiences of using drone technology for agriculture, the challenges faced in the agriculture sector, and how drones can be instrumental as solutions to these challenges in Nigeria.
The webinar will last for approximately 1 hour, including a Q&A session.
The CSC’s Knowledge Hub webinar series is open to all Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni. Through the series, Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni will discuss their work and contribution to development across a range of contemporary global challenges, and provide insight into ongoing research and action.
