On 7 December, the Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni of South Africa (CoSFA-SA) hosted an online ‘Virtual Scholarship Information’ session, designed to provide guidance to potential Commonwealth Scholarship applicants on the application process and to offer an opportunity to meet Commonwealth Alumni and current Scholars. The session was attended by over 300 participants and live streamed on CoSFA-SA’s Facebook group.

The session was led by current and former Commonwealth Scholars who spoke to attendees about their experience of applying for the scholarship programme. The panel of speakers who presented information consisted of:

Dr Ryan Daniels, 2015 Scholar, PhD Zoology, University of Oxford

Dr Leandra Koenig-Visagie, 2013 Scholar, PhD History Art, University of Leeds

Josie Everatt, 2019 Scholar, MSc Bioinformatics, University of Edinburgh

Hilja Eelu, 2020 Scholar, MSc Control of Infectious Diseases, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

The information session provided prospective applicants with a brief introduction to the CSC and the scholarship application process, followed by presentations from the panel of speakers who all shared words of advice and encouragement about the application process and answered questions pre-submitted from registered attendees.
