Barack Ojiem is a Kenyan 2011 Commonwealth Professional Fellow, hosted by Widows and Orphans International. He works at Hope for Victoria Children, an NGO that rehabilitates and reintegrates street children.
I am a line manager responsible for rehabilitation and advocacy programmes in my organisation. All the training and experiences I have accessed through my Fellowship fall within the circle of project management, which was my expectation. I will mainstream the skills I have acquired within the programme that I manage, and share the skills I have learnt with my peer managers within my organisation and through the local network and consortium. I trust that this effort will impact positively on the social, economic and political development of people from my local region.
