A small group of 2009 Commonwealth Professional Fellows and hosts got together on 8 March 2010 – Commonwealth Day – to discuss their Fellowships and how both Fellows and hosts can benefit from them.

It was a useful discussion and very encouraging to note the enthusiasm of the Professional Fellows for implementing the skills and knowledge they have gained once they return home. The Professional Fellows came from a wide variety of occupational backgrounds and included lawyers, education professionals, a psychiatrist, a head of a charity, and a representative from a parliamentary commission, amongst others.

Representatives from AMREF, Middlesex University, and the League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers (LECT) were also able to attend, and they reported on what a valuable experience hosting Fellows has been for them.

After the meeting, the Professional Fellows were able to join other Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows who were fortunate enough to be invited to attend the Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey.
