Emmanuel Dugan (2008 Commonwealth Scholar, PhD Soil Science, University of Reading) is part of a team that has won a national Best Research Award 2010 at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana.
The research team has been investigating how biochar (charcoal used for carbon capture) modifies the physical properties of soil.
Emmanuel’s PhD fieldwork at the CSIR evaluated his laboratory findings in this field; he presented his research at the World Congress of Soil Science in Brisbane, Australia, in August 2010.
