The Indian Association of Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows (ACSF) was launched in Delhi on 19th December 2015 by Chair of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK, Mr Richard Middleton.
There are more than 4,600 Commonwealth alumni across India with many now holding prominent positions in academia and government. The aims of the association are to act as a think tank for promoting development for sustainability, influencing policy for the public good, capacity building, providing technical expertise across a range of areas and acting as alumni ambassadors for the next generation of scholars from India.
Also at the event were Richard Everitt, Director of Education at British Council India and Dr Alexander Evans, Acting British High Commissioner to India.
Speaking at the event, Dr Dhruva Chaudhry, President of the alumni association invited all Indian alumni to join them and use the group as a platform to help create solutions to local and regional problems.
During the launch, a panel discussion was held on “Education for sustainable change” moderated by president of the ACSF Dr Dhruva Chaudhry. Many eminent professors and alumni participated in the discussion including Prof. Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen, Prof Yogesh Singh, Prof. Bulbul Dhar and Prof. Raj Dhankar.
Mr Manu Mahajan, General Secretary of the ACSF, gave the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to all those who had helped create the group.
