Gabriel Sam Amolo is a 2011 Commonwealth Professional Fellow from Kenya. His Fellowship was hosted by Widows and Orphans International.
I am a Kenyan currently working with an NGO as Deputy Director in charge of programmes and fundraising. I am responsible for overseeing the initiation and implementation of the organisation’s activities, running community health facilities, community outreach for HIV prevention, economic empowerment through income-generating activities, and education programmes for orphans and vulnerable children. I also head the fundraising team charged with proposal writing and resource mobilisation.
I am grateful to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and my host organization, Widows and Orphans International, for having given me this privilege to acquire skills and knowledge in the UK and use it to better the lives of marginalised communities in Western Kenya. I will forever in my life remain grateful to the CSC for this wonderful opportunity.
